This is the list of all public works with their build costs, maintenance costs, and effects as far as the Town Council knows them. If you have additional information on any of these or know a public work not listed here, please let me know and I can add it.

An * after a Public Works name means that I am missing or have an out of date printing for the public work as some have had their effects change.

Positions

Public Work Make Cost Effect
Building Operator 100 Ducats, 1 Focus 10d per game to an individual who provides the focus requirement for ongoing maintenance of a building. This public work is completed for each building, individually, and is tied to the maintenance of that building.
Lamp Lighter 100 Ducats, 1 Focus Pays 10d per game to a lamp lighter, who lights the lamps on the trails.
Mail Carrier 100 Ducats, 1 Focus Pays 10d per game to a mail carrier, who delivers and collects the mail.
Newspaper Delivery 100 Ducats, 1 Focus Pays 10d per game to a newspaper delivery person, who delivers the newspaper.
Town Watch 400 Ducats, 1 Focus Pays 20d per game to one constable and 10d per game to each of two deputies.
Town Cryer 100 Ducats, 1 Focus Pays 10d per game to a town cryer, who rings the hour.

Positions are created once and never have to be maintained afterwards. As far as I know, none of them have blueprints or other paperwork explaining them that should be held by the Town Council.

As an additional note and reminder, public works do not need to be built through the Town Council. Any group (or even individual player) in game can organize, contribute materials and focus, and build a public work. There are two important things related to this though. First, any public work built are public. You can’t police who uses them and if they generate income of some type (like the Printing Press or Generator Mill) that income will be provided to the Town Council unless otherwise noted. Second, there is no guarantee that Town Council will handle the maintenance of that public work going forward. Town Council might, but it is far better for people that choose to build a public work outside the town council be prepared to maintain it in the future. And Town Council currently maintaining a public work is also no guarantee that they will continue to do so in the future.

Just spend like a year and a half working towards it and gathering the resources. That’s how the Graveyard got built.

Agreed. It’s high cost though means we’re probably going to be more reliant on most of game donating to get it built vs town council being able to do it (especially with cursed docks, occupation, etc).

Do we have a list of all currently built and all operational works?

To my knowledge, we’ve got: Sewers, Fire Station, Customs House, Hospital Improvements, Post Office, Bank Vault, Dry Docks, Gaol, Graveyard, Generator Mill, and Printing Press.

usually, there’s a post pre an event where the TC asks to coordinate who’s focusing on maintaining what, or staff has sometimes in the past posted what public works are in effect

I mean that would make logical sense

The Engineer specialization, Surveyor, has skills that interact with Public Works. There is Yield Analysis that improves a Public Work for an event (and everyone gets the benefit of). And then there is Continuous Production that has different available uses to choose from depending on what Public Works are built and maintained.

We currently only know their benefits for existing Public Works. But the benefits are as follows…

Public Work Yield Analysis Continuous Production
Sewer System All PCs gain two free uses of the Recovery skill, which does not count for cost increases, but cannot be refreshed. Spend a use of this skill as per the Recovery skill.
Post Office Letter sending no longer requires stamps. The Town Council receives 30d in tax revenue during this BGS cycle. Spend a use of this skill to mail a letter without needing stamps.
Bank Vault In addition to allowing the Banker profession, the Town Council gains a Bank Vault as though they had 5 ranks in the Banker profession. You may store 200 ducats or one item (of any size) completely out of game (in a specified area) per use of this skill spent. You may access this storage one time, per game, per use that you spent (do not need to spend again to access).
Dry Dock In addition to its normal effects, doubles focus points spent on ship construction/maintenance during this BGS cycle. Spend a use of this skill to avoid one yellow bead that would otherwise be put in your bag.
Customs House Doubles tax revenue during this BGS cycle. Spend a use of this skill to purchase or sell a merchant lot.
Printing Press Generates 80d per game for the town council, through sales of the newspaper. Spend a use of this skill to gain a point of Political Influence. Place a note in the PI box.
Fire Station In addition to its normal effects, public work maintenance materials costs are halved (round up) during this BGS cycle. Spend a use of this skill to resist one call prefaced by the word “Fire.”
Graveyard In addition to its normal effects, Spiritualists may spend 5 arcanum to mimic the effects of a Draught of Quietude. Spend a use of this skill to use Sanctify Dead as though you were a Spiritualist.
Generator Mill Generates 20 units of electricity, which are sold by the town council. Spend a use of this skill to provide 1 point of Electricity to an item.
Library In addition to its normal use, it provides 10 focus to the Town Council that may be used on public work construction and maintenance. This public work no longer requires a focus to maintain, only components. You may spend a point of Continuous Production for a point of Research or Experimentation.
Shore Batteries In addition to its normal effects, the safety of the shore batteries will increase inbound trade by 25%. You may spend three points of Continuous Production to load a cannon as though you had a basic cannonball.
Hospital Field surgery adds a red and a black instead of two blacks, field hospital only adds one black. Perform a basic surgery.
