Purchasing

The Labor and Development cost represents the labor to produce the device and the costs of scientific invention and development. Your order helps push the boundaries of science!

The Bill of Materials lists the base components which must be provided. Marinus Labs can source materials that you cannot provide at a small surcharge above market rates for the effort. Labor costs may be adjusted if you can provide intermediate components by negotiation with M. Marinus.

If you wish to perform your own construction, you may License a schematic instead, borrowing it from our laboratory archives for a season. The Licensing Fee is a small cost to offset the effort of research and development. These rates may change over time.

Payments

Marinus Labs accepts as forms of payment: ducats; materials at market rates; manufactured engineering parts at negotiated rates; and hours of Research, Experimentation, Research Assistant, and Coordination at 1d per hour.

Armaments and Other Materiel

Cattle Prod

  • Labor and Development: 14d

  • Bill of Materials: 2 Copper, 1 Iron, 4 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 2d

  • Operational Requirements: Calibration, Electricity

This electrical device can be mounted on your weapon to deliver a vicious electrified attack after every charge! Scatter your foes with the modern miracle of electricity! Extra effective against water-aligned creatures!

Clarify: Connects to a single melee weapon. After 1 Electricity is provided, for the remainder of the event, you may spend five minutes cranking to gain a Lightning Strike augment on that weapon.

  • You may charge this any number of times during the event, but only one augment may be stored at a time.

Fire Amplifier

  • Labor and Development: 17d

  • Bill of Materials: 1 Copper, 1 Iron, 2 Fire Vials, 1 Magnesium, 1 Sapphire, 5 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 2d

  • Operational Requirements: Calibration by a Fire Artificer, Electricity

Artificers! You can use electricity to enhance your abilities! This Amplifier, for Fire Artificers, allows you to generate larger bursts of elemental damage! Reusable for several days on a single electrical charge!

Additional elements can be developed upon request!

Clarify: After 1 Electricity is provided, for the remainder of the event, you may spend five minutes fiddling with the controls to gain the ability to throw one Fire Strike packet.

  • Since this is not a weapon augment, you can choose when to throw it; it need not be the next Elemental Volley packet you throw.

  • Since this is not a weapon augment, it is expended if you miss with it.

  • You may charge this any number of times during the event, but only one Fire Strike can be stored at a time.

Lightning Armor

  • Labor and Development: 17d

  • Bill of Materials: 1 Copper, 1 Leather, 1 Magnesium, 5 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 2d

  • Operational Requirements: None (Consumable)

No foe will dare touch you twice! Upon being struck, send them staggering with an invisible, electrokinetic blow!

Clarify: Once ever, you may apply this to a piece of armor. The next time the person wearing the armor is struck, they may call “By My Voice, (name), Lightning Strike” to the person or creature who struck them.

Organ Improvements

Electromechanical Tactical Limb

  • Labor and Development: 48d

    • To upgrade an existing Clockwork Limb: 27d
  • Bill of Materials: 12 Copper, 3 Iron, 1 Magnesium, 5 Coal, 1 Cactus, 15 Arcanum

    • To upgrade an existing Clockwork Limb: 9 Copper, 1 Iron, 1 Magnesium, 4 Coal, 1 Cactus, 8 Arcanum
  • Licensing Fee: 8d

  • Operational Requirements: Calibration, Elective Surgery, Electricity

A scientific miracle of efficiency! A modern mechanical arm takes days to completely use up a single electrical charge, but a Marinus Labs Electromechanical Tactical Limb needs only 3 minutes to entirely deplete a fully charged battery! You’re never outmatched on the battlefield when you’re wielding uncontrolled electrical discharge!

Clarify:

  • While this limb is unpowered, it is unusable as if Maimed. This device begins each event unpowered. Spend 1 Electricity to power this device.

    • While this device is powered, you may choose to activate its special ability: For the next minute, call Lightning Strike with every weapon swing. After that minute, this device becomes unpowered.
    • There’s no limit on how many times you can use this ability per event, as long as you can keep finding Electricity.
  • This can upgrade an existing Clockwork Limb “in place” in one BGS period, without requiring an additional surgery, and without needing Focus or Coordination to sequence. Flavor-wise you will spend part of your BGS period without a limb; plan accordingly.

Artificial Heart

  • Labor and Development: 40d

  • Bill of Materials: 2 Coal, 2 Copper, 2 Iron, 1 Magnesium, 1 Salt, 1 Grasshopper, 1 Cactus, 10 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 8d

  • Operational Requirements: Calibration, Elective Surgery, Electricity

The most common failure mode of the human body! NO MORE! Replace your feeble fleshy heart with a new Artificial Heart from Marinus Labs, and increase your lifespan far beyond your envious peers!

Clarify: At the start of each event, you suffer Weakness until 1 Electricity is provided. The first time each event you are hit with a Critical Strike, resist it.

  • This effect is silent. Do not call “resist”. You simply don’t go critical.

Artificial Liver

  • Labor and Development: 28d

  • Bill of Materials: 2 Cactus, 2 Copper, 10 Leather, 8 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 10d

  • Operational Requirements: Calibration, Elective Surgery

Be the belle of the ball, while drinking like a sailor! This Artificial Liver will allow one to ingest a variety of unsavory quaffs without losing composure. Do you suffer from frequent assassination attempts and/or encounters with toxic creatures? Dine and battle in confidence with the peace of mind modern scientific design can provide!

Clarify:

  1. Venom has a partially mitigated effect. It still makes you unconscious after five seconds, but that’s all; you do not go critical. You can be Tend/Awakened normally, as though the venom had been purified after you fell unconscious.

  2. You may, at your discretion, ward any alcohol-based effect(s).

Cranial Implants

  • Labor and Development: 28d

  • Bill of Materials: 4 Coal, 8 Copper, 2 Leather, 2 Sapphire, 8 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 10d

  • Operational Requirements: Calibration, Elective Surgery

The element of surprise is a formidable weapon regularly employed by unsavory individuals looking for an unfair battle! Scientifically enhance your visual range with Marinus Labs Cranial Implants: it’s like having eyes in the back of your head! Skull reinforcement is provided at no additional charge!

Clarify: You may call “Ward” to Subdue. You should add metallic details to your face; this replaces the need for any otherwise-required facial scarring.

Scientific Devices

Aether Condenser

  • Labor and Development: 30d

  • Bill of Materials: 1 Cactus, 4 Coal, 8 Lead, 3 Magnesium, 11 Arcanum, a trivial quantity of Aetherwhale Blubber

  • Licensing Fee: 6d

  • Operational Requirements: None (Consumable)

For the first time ever, observe Aether outside of its natural habitat! From the comfort of the indoors, observe and examine the scientific properties of this mysterious substance! The Marinus Labs Aether Condenser collects it conveniently in a portable container!

Marinus Labs would like to thank Byrgen Ellis for collaboration on this project.

Clarify: Once ever, this device holds one quantity of aether.

  • The condenser is initially empty.

  • It is not known under what circumstances it condenses aether optimally to fill the jar.

  • 1 Aetherwhale Blubber is a ship’s worth. You just need to skim a negligible amount. There will still be 1 Aetherwhale Blubber after you take your sample.

  • You can’t scrape the Aetherwhale Blubber off of a boat that has used it for a hull treatment. It has to be in its blubber form. Go hunt an Aetherwhale.

Contriturated Ice Treat Device

  • Labor and Development: 60d

  • Bill of Materials: 1 Cactus, 4 Coal, 4 Copper, 3 Ice Vial, 8 Lead, 4 Magnesium, 19 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 10d

  • Operational Requirements: Electricity

A powerful motor combined with cutting edge cryotechnology makes staying cool easier than ever! Simply insert ice, power on, and top with your favorite flavors! Transform any elixir into a delicious treat for two and share with a friend or loved one! Do not operate without the assistance of a certified technician. Do not insert fingers into device. Marinus Labs is not responsible for inappropriate use of device and/or elixir effects, known or unknown.

Now available at the Season’s Edge! Marinus Labs Cryocannon coming soon!

Clarify: After 3 Electricity are provided, for the remainder of the event:

  1. New recipes are possible.

  2. Adding an Elixir and a Honey to the device allows that Elixir to be shared between two people.

Organ Preservation Jar

  • Labor and Development: 14d

  • Bill of Materials: 1 Cactus, 1 Ice Vial, 1 Magnesium, 4 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 2d

  • Operational Requirements: None (Consumable)

Specifically designed with your safety in mind! The plague will soon be no more, thanks to the ability of this miraculous device to keep delicate cure ingredients from deteriorating.

Clarify: With this device a surgeon may perform surgery on a critical human patient to harvest one liver. This expends the device. The liver is preserved for one BGS cycle.

  • The patient must be critical, even if they are a willing donor.

  • After the liver extraction surgery, the patient is still critical. A second surgery is required to revive the patient.

  • The liver extraction surgery is elective. The followup surgery to revive the patient is not.

  • To the best of our knowledge you don’t need to take the whole liver. The patient will live (surgery results permitting) but may experience temporary effects.

Safety Equipment

Fire Extinguisher

  • Labor and Development: 14d

  • Bill of Materials: 1 Copper, 1 Iron, 1 Magnesium, 4 Arcanum

  • Licensing Fee: 2d

  • Operational Requirements: None (Permanent)

Don’t forget your safety equipment! If you’re considering the purchase of anything else contained in this catalogue, Marinus Labs formally suggests the addition of this highly safe Fire Extinguisher! Fires of any size or character are no match for this device. Never again worry that the aftermath of a laboratory explosion will keep you from reaching your notebook and recording who’s at fault.

Please only use your purchases as instructed; with appropriate personal protective equipment; with safety devices near at hand; and with an observer standing by at a safe distance to fetch mechanical, medical, mental, spiritual, or arcane emergency assistance.

Clarify: You may charge the Fire Extinguisher by hitting it with five Ice Darts or one Ice Strike plus one minute of roleplay. You may then discharge the Fire Extinguisher to remove one knowledge tag whose title contains the word “fire”.

  • This item is reusable. It must be recharged after each use.

  • An Ice Artificer’s Elemental Volley counts as Ice Darts for the purpose of charging this item.

  • The tag must contain exactly the word “fire”. Not a variant like “fiery” or “burning” and not as part of a compound word like “fireball”. Just “fire”.

  • Just take the tag down. The function should be clear from context.

Does the lightning armor go off even if the triggering strike knocks the target out?

I discussed the possibility of getting a “boring” unmaimable clockwork limb with M. Marinus this past gather - does the lab have that schematic/ability to make such a limb, or is only the Electromechanical Tactical Limb available at this time?

That schematic exists and is buyable. I don’t know if anyone has purchased it.

Noted. Thank you very much for the speedy reply!

Oh, an update, I possess a copy of the powered mechanical limb schematic, and am willing to rent it out for a couple of ducats.

Also, Evy, since I’m sure you’re the one getting the twins to sit still long enough to put together a catalog, is there a version of the catalog that has been updated since this spring somewhere?
